Biography - Julian Kirk

View Kirk's CV (PDF file)

After many years working as a studio artist and illustrator in Britain and abroad, Kirk helped establish the BigArt Internet-based art gallery. A central maxim for Kirk's motivation and excitement in the project was the conviction that people need art in their lives - though some of us may not yet realize how much we need it - Art really is 'no longer an option' in the 21st century!

Julian Kirk was a semi-finalist in Channel Five competition Big Art Challenge - "Lunchtime, Noboribetsu Noodle Restaurant, Hokkaido, Japan" featured on the programme. Art critic and competition judge Brian Sewell was impressed with the way Kirk had painted it with "old fashioned aplomb".
